Job Summary

The head of diversity, equity and inclusion promotes the mission and core values of Sanford by providing strategic and tactical leadership throughout the enterprise specific to diversity, equity and inclusion, as well as develops, implements, maintains and measures diversity equity and inclusion initiatives. This role will lead the team responsible for creating and maintaining the strategic direction, trainings and initiatives for building and fostering a climate of equity and inclusion throughout the Sanford enterprise.
Implements and leads an equity and inclusion leadership workgroup and establishes the appropriate infrastructure to ensure key performance objectives are met.
Oversees the development of building and sustaining an enterprise-wide diverse, equity based, talent pipeline, enhancing employee engagement through an inclusive workplace culture, ensuring culturally-competent care for patients and families and community diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
Oversees the execution of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a diverse workforce for the organization.
Partners with cross-functional teams within the enterprise (i.e. quality, research, and employee data analytics) to mature the framework used to monitor, assess and respond to employee and patient equality review requests.
Determines the appropriateness of introducing equity and inclusion initiatives and considers the unique needs of the organization.
Ensures the development of training schedules to educate employees and managers on how to recognize, accommodate and appreciate individual differences and how these can be bridged back to assist in meeting company business plans.
Oversees the creation and communication of a multi-year set of annual operating plans to deliver the initiatives, programs and projects underpinning Sanford's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
Stewards the planning, monitoring and reporting out of the annual portfolio of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, programs and projects across Sanford.
Develops metrics for measuring the effectiveness of corporate equity and inclusion initiatives implemented and prepares quarterly reports to senior management on the value of the initiatives.
Oversees the analyzation of data and insights to identify, understand and articulate the key inputs and metrics that tell the story of the equity and inclusion strategies and its progress.
Ensures strategies are elevated in key external and internal initiatives and program offerings (e.g., scholarships and internships for minorities and protected classes, minority employment, healthcare options for minority beneficiaries, care navigation, health plan offerings, wellness programs, etc.).
Leads and ensures strategies designed to promote equity and inclusion and increase cultural diversity within the organization.
Remains current on equity and inclusion programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (e.g., professional association and educational groups, and professional development efforts).
Monitors local, regional and national diversity equity and inclusion policies related to health services, advise Sanford, and advocate on behalf of Sanford.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum five years’ experience in diversity equity and inclusion management, organization development, industrial and organizational psychology, or related field. Five years’ experience in a formal leadership position working with diverse, underserved minorities, and/or organizations in complex environments.
Experience in Healthcare and/or Insurance industry preferred. Experience working with federal and state employment and healthcare regulations preferred. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) preferred. Certified Diversity Professional or Certified Diversity Executive preferred.
