Job Summary

Responsible to assist laboratory educators with the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development and general effectiveness of the laboratory program. Ultimately responsible to oversee the program and all participating students. Provides all administrative support for the education of students. The philosophy, goals, and objectives of the program shall be consistent with the overall mission and direction of Sanford.
Responsible for guiding students through the program and any necessary interventions/disciplinary actions along the way.
Coordinates collaboration across laboratory disciplines and multidisciplinary meetings to communicate progress and look for new opportunities for the school.
Establishes relationships across the enterprise to help standardize curriculums, lectures, and other program content.
Must maintain a working knowledge of current accreditation and certification procedures. Must have proven organization, time management, and communication skills and knowledge of educational methods and administration.
Demonstrates knowledge and experience with the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) while following all rules and regulation as it pertains to being the program supervisor.

Department Details

This is a full-time position overseeing the Medical Laboratory Science internship program for all Sanford Medical Centers in Fargo. This is a 12 month program with both didactic and clinical rotations.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
Minimum one-year laboratory experience required. Experience in training, education, and/or teaching helpful.
Possess a national certification for Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
