Transportation Manager/Driver

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is in search of an individual to manage our transportation department. This position requires a CDL and the physical capability to transport Grocery, Dairy, Produce and Bakery products between stores, the ability to plan and coordinate daily product shipments, and a thorough knowledge of supply chain management, food safety, warehouse procedures, dispatch and tracking.  Must also be knowledgeable in safe operating procedures and legal regulations.

 
Duties include:

• Fleet Management
• Delivery of Grocery, Dairy, Produce and Bakery Product to local and regional stores
• Manage maintenance records, certifications and licensing
• Coordinate shipments between store locations
• Recruit outside hauling opportunities
• Maintain cold chain for food safety
• Monitor and report transportation costs
• Ensure shipping documents are completed and properly filed
• Research and suggest cost effective shipping methods
• Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
• Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules, maintenance and completed orders
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and Food Handling Safety regulations
• Manage and coordinate loads, routes and drivers
• Train and supervise other drivers

Requirements:

• Proven work experience in transportation management or similar role
• Knowledge of supply chain management and warehouse procedures
• Current CDL License
• Diesel mechanic skills a plus
• Experience and/or successful completion of semi truck driving program
• Acceptable driving record
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety processes
• No serious traffic violations in past 3 years

Excellent organizational skills

Familiarity with computers, software and technology
