The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD), a nationally recognized leader in environmental protection and pollution prevention, seeks qualified full-time Millwright with strong knowledge in pump
maintenance, shaft alignment and blue-print reading.
PRIMARY DUTIES
 Maintains, repairs, installs, fabricates and modifies, when required, a variety of pumps, electric motors, gasoline and diesel engines, turbines, valves, compressors, blowers, generators, hoists, conveyors, gear assemblies, pulleys, heavy piping, pressure vessels, hydraulic units, chain drives, air conditioning and ventilating systems, filtering and screening equipment, boilers, flow control devices, and other apparatuses and related machinery and equipment throughout the plant and at remote locations.
 Interprets and works from engineering drawings and modifies layouts to make field fits; checks equipment and materials to assure necessary items are available for assigned projects; aligns and adjusts equipment to assure proper operation.
 Participates in the design review and construction coordination of new or enhanced facilities, and assists in revision of mechanical systems diagrams and blueprints.
 Confers and coordinates as required, any maintenance, repair or installation work with appropriate engineering, maintenance and operations personnel.
 Investigates with operations and engineering, any equipment failures to determine cause and to take necessary corrective action; assists in establishing methods for carrying out maintenance and repair
work and assures adherence to safe work practices and methods.


KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Extensive knowledge of methods and techniques involved in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of stationary and mobile mechanical equipment used in a wastewater treatment plant, collection system or other industrial settings. Considerable knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of a wide variety of pumps, compressors, valves and conveyance equipment. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment, keep accurate records and prepare routine reports from such records. Works independently or as a part of a team and is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and fellow employees. Ability to layout, fabricate, weld and perform light machining.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a technical trade school with a degree in an industrial maintenance related field or equivalent education and possess five years’ experience in maintaining equipment and machinery similar
to that found in wastewater or solid waste processing facility; or such combination of education and experience as may be accepted as equivalent. Possess a valid driver’s license.
