Summary: Works directly as a trainer, supervises activities and priorities of other trainers, and serves as an advisor to leadership in the planning, development, presentation, and evaluation of training and educational programs that engage and develop employees to ensure key competencies are taught in order to perform current and future jobs with a primary concentration and focus on hourly positions. Main safety contact for the facility. Leads safety-training for employees, suggests effective methods of measuring safety standards in the workplace, and conducts safety inspections on a routine basis.

Promptly reports injuries for prompt diagnosis and treatment. 3) Makes regular suggestions for safety process improvements to support continuous improvement in safety.

 

Essential Functions:

1. Both oversees and provides the orientation, onboarding and development to new, hourly employees.

2. Monitors skill sets and determines when recertification is needed.

3. Develops and delivers customized training per request.

4. Designs, implements, and maintains training programs in all locations.

5. Effectively holds online trainings with all other locations.

6. Identify implementation needs for new programs and drive continuous improvements for existing programs.

7. Ability to develop new programs from scratch.

8. Research and develop departmental training guide for essential function of the OJT.

9. Coordinates use of outside technical training resources as necessary to meet business needs.

10. Assists leadership in updating and maintaining the required skill flex for all positions.

11. Be the liaison between the OTJ trainer, supervisor and new department employee.

12. Prioritize training needs.

13. Evaluate new employees in the job interviews.

14. Assist the VP HR, Talent Mgmt. & Leadership Dev.in projects as requested.

15. Provides newly hired employees with the basic skill set for success.

16. As required, takes on the duties of the VP of Training & OD in their absence.

1. Trains employees in safety procedures.

2. Suggests revisions to production methods and employee activity that does not meet health and safety codes.

3. Stays up to date on new state and federal health and safety regulations.

4. Runs emergency drills to gauge employee readiness.

5. Consults with facility director regarding the implementation of new safety procedures.

6. Schedules and performs monthly safety audits of each department and subsequently enters audit findings into Industry Safe.

7. Tracks safety numbers, including: near misses, property damage, and reported/OSHA/Dart injuries.

8. Schedules Safety Meetings, maintains agenda and takes meeting minutes.

9. Maintains safety manuals.

10. Participates in incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions.

11. Enters claims into Liberty Mutual system and helps with claim management.

12. Maintains OSHA visual safety incident maps.

13. Runs reports out of Industry Safe and maintain injury statistics/reports.

14. Maintains OSHA 300 Log on site.

15. Accompanies employees to clinics/IWIRC for work related injuries.

16. Creates and manages modified work agreements.

17. Aids in production on an as needed basis.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduation from high school, college or technical school degree preferred, leadership experience in a metal fabricating environment.

 

Experience and Skills Required: At least three years of recent related production experience which includes the following skills and abilities:

1. Excellent computer database, customer service skills, and experience with documentation systems required.

2. Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access.

3. Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, organized and able to prioritize.

4. Ability to establish and maintain strong, cooperative working relationships with others.

5. Able to present ideas effectively, orally and in writing, as well as strong public speaking/relations skills.

6. Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices used in production operations.

7. Must be able to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions.

8. Must be able to delegate work as workload defines.
