Job Summary:
The HR Services Specialist will provide exceptional customer service by consulting, advising and assisting employees'/team members with payroll and benefit related programs along with other HR related topics. Processes payroll and payroll-related documents to ensure accurate and timely payment to employees'/team members. Administers benefit and compensation plans/programs while maintaining compliance with SMSC policies and procedures.
Job Duties:
  • Performs data entry of payroll, benefits and compensation information for multiple pay groups in the payroll, time keeping and HRIS. Performs detailed audits of payroll and timekeeping to ensure accuracy. Distributes payroll and management reports. Assist with set up for electronic pay statements and reset passwords.
  • Researches, calculates, and processes payroll corrections, manual time cards, and wardrobe deductions and reimbursements.
  • Organizes and distributes payroll checks. Mails checks to former employees/team members and mails direct deposit letters for new set-ups.
  • Completes and audits employment and benefit verifications. Maintains, calculates, sets up and processes all garnishments/child support files, prepares and processes check requests for manual garnishment/child support calculations.
  • Consults and advises employees/team members regarding inquiries related to payroll and benefit programs along with other HR related topics. Respond to or contact departments for payroll, benefits or compensation related information.
  • Maintains correspondence with employees'/team members to administer continuation of benefits program with continuation vendor.
  • Creates, coordinates and executes materials for new hire orientations to ensure accuracy and fulfillment.
  • Coordinate and execute all benefit mailings either via regular mail or electronic mail.
  • Responds to all unemployment claims and inquiries.
  • Regularly handles difficult conversations tactfully and obtains confidential information, e.g. health information for leaves of absence, marital changes and support notices.
  • Assist with benefit billing and maintains department electronic and paper files.
  • Assist with annual pay for performance merit increase process.
  • Assist compensation team with job evaluations, market pricing, salary survey participation and review of salary grades and ranges.
  • Assist the HRIS team with data entry, responding to email box inquiries and running reports.
  • Assist in responding to Gaming Commission questions and issues regarding organizational charts and position profiles.
  • Actively seeks to improve process efficiencies in all compensation related tasks.
