Quality Control Technician

Schedule: 6pm-6:30am rotating weeks - Week 1 Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat & Week 2 Sun, Wed, Thurs
Length: 6 Months
Compensation: $23.50/hr
Summary: Perform Production process monitoring and direction. Perform and interpret QC Chemical & Microbiological test results and make recommendations for improvement. Maintain inventory control systems for controlled release of materials, intermediates, and finished goods. To ensure that laboratory procedures, methods, and practices are carried out as defined in the SQF 2000 System. Maintain Inoculation lab development of production inoculum.
Job Duties:
  1. Follows and enforces procedures and practices of the FSSC 22000 System.
  2. Performs, interprets and evaluates QC test results and makes recommendations. Gives input and assists in the development of QC procedures, policies, and philosophy.
  3. Ensures that products and QC practices are in compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
  4. Provides direction to "in process" production activities and planning of production processes
  5. Administers pre-operational sanitation verification ATP bioluminescence program.
  6. Maintains and continually develops environmental monitoring program. Performs environmental monitoring, analyzes results and gives sanitation direction.
  7. Assists in the verification and maintenance of site Allergen Control Program.
  8. Promotes and works in a team environment. Is an active participant in all QC activities.
  9. Enforces and supports GMP policies. Participates as an internal GMP inspector - presents findings.
  10. Maintains skills and knowledge base in QC methods for both microbiology and analytical chemistry.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or Biology.
  • Experience: None required; 2-5 years experience in a food Microbiology or food QC lab setting is preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge in QC laboratory methodologies, quality systems, and food safety is required. Knowledge of current GMP. HACCP Training. Allergen awareness. Must be computer literate. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, including both verbal and written communication and the ability to lead and work in interdepartmental teams. The work is self-directed and requires the ability to work without close, direct supervision utilizing good organizational techniques.
