Job Summary

Infection Prevention: Work collaboratively with infection and prevention and control staff under leadership, to accomplish the goals and objective of the Infection Prevention program.

Quality Strategist: The Associate Quality Strategist role is responsible for maintaining knowledge of current quality and cost measures within value based programs and contracts. Will provide consultation in quality assurance, quality improvement, process/performance improvement as well as regulatory and procedural compliance Infection Preventionist:

Evaluation of infection control trends, practices, and provide educational programs for employees. Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Responsibilities include surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness, evaluation and reporting of statistical information, consultation of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues. Monitors compliance standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects. Evaluates and improves performance of patient/resident outcomes. Assists with research needs and special projects are assigned. Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Possess good interpersonal skills as well as willingness to seek out new information and knowledge. Able to think critically and problem solve effectively.

Quality Strategist:

A familiarity with the structure of healthcare systems, practice and utilization patterns in various healthcare settings is necessary.

Ability to collect and organize detailed information. Ability to review, analyze, and validate data reports. Willing to seek out new information and knowledge and be willing to embrace new responsibilities and change.

Acts as a change agent with the ability to influence others to action. Deploys and delivers training. Provides feedback on quality assurance while providing consultation and training on the development and implementation of quality assurance programs.

Coordinate and facilitate location specific quality improvement activities. Coordinate and facilitate participation in corporate, regional or national quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrate success in delivering results in a cross-functional team setting through continual sharing and feedback.

Provides subject matter expertise. Understands compliance mandates for the assigned service line(s), assessing operations in order ensure the requirements are met. Monitor regulatory survey trending reports to identify areas of repeat deficient practices and opportunities for sustainable improvements in regulatory compliance. Coordinates processes across service lines to evaluate survey preparedness and assist with developing and implementing systems and processes to assure continuous survey readiness.

Research or review policies and procedures that meet the organizations expectations in creating a compliant and safe environment culture across service lines. Mentor and coach employees in the use of quality assurance and performance improvement tools and processes, including setting quality improvement priorities and conducting root cause analysis.

Use strong analytical and quantitative skills to coordinate with leaders in the implementation and use of publicly reported quality data, quality measures and Society specific reports, dashboard indicators and satisfaction survey results. Perform comprehensive reviews and compiles statistical data and reports to assist with the identification of performance issues and the development of quality performance improvement plans.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in nursing, related clinical field, or graduate from an approved Masters of Public Health program preferred.

If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Two years' of experience in a healthcare field required.

Board of Certification in Infection Control (CIC) by the Certification Board of Infection Control, Inc. (CBIC) is required. If certification is not obtained at the time of hire, a full time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 36 months from date of hire. A part time employed incumbent is required to sit for the exam within 48 months from date of hire. A 12-month extension is allowed from the date of the first exam. At the end of the 12 months, if certification has not been obtained, an action plan will be devised by leadership in consultation with human resources.

If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
