Designer/Drafter

• he Designer/Drafter prepares layout and basic mechanisms requiring the application of a variety of standardized drawing techniques. Prepares complex assembly and detail selection drawings showing interrelated dimensions and positions requiring various calculations such as sheet metal and tubing bend allowances. Directions will be given by senior personnel.

  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Creates engineering documentation including CAD modeling (Solidworks), fabrication and purchase drawings that conform to company standards.
  • Exhibit basic sense of design and mechanical aptitude with abstract thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Complete work assignments within determined time frame.
  • Have a basic understanding of manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Show proficiency in working with CAD (Solidworks)
  • Be part of and function in a team environment.
  • Work independently with guidance from senior designers.

Qualifications:

• Two year Vocational/Technical Drafting Certificate or A.A.S. degree in CAD (Solidworks)
• Up to five years related drafting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in sheet metal design and/or HVAC products is desired.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software; Development software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
