Position Information

Position Information:
  • The NDSU Extension Plant Pathology team is looking for motivated individuals to help assist in daily small plot field research activities on campus and surrounding areas. Individuals will gain valuable training in pest identification, experimental design, operation of small-plot equipment, and collaborative work.

Primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with crop and trial establishment involving measuring and labeling of plots, planting crops, evaluating plots for efficacy and crop phytotoxicity, and assisting with harvest;
  • Assisting with mixing and application of crop protection products under the supervision of the Research Specialists;
  • Assisting with loading and hauling equipment to research sites in the surrounding areas;
  • Performing field trial maintenance;
  • Working flexible hours;
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enrolled at North Dakota State University pursuing a degree in an agronomic science or closely related biological or agricultural field of study;
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team and must be able to physically perform field duties under highly variable conditions;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills together with the ability to operate in a safe, efficient manner;
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Duration: Full-time summer employment starting May through August 2021, with possibility of part-time employment continuing into the fall months if interested.

Salary: $13+ per hour depending upon experience.
