JOB SUMMARY

The Applications Analyst II develops procedures and converts these procedures into applications, programs and queries required for computer solutions. The Applications Analyst II also implements purchased software for the solution of well-defined, routine business problems. Those in this position continue to work under the guidance of senior staff members.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Learns user functions, organization and role in the enterprise to the extent required.

• Tests and implements systems, upgrades to systems and custom programming as required.

• Coordinates and arranges all aspects of internal and external training.

• Creates ad hoc reporting, downloads, enhancements and development support as needed.

• Ensure that all client requests are being appropriately and adequately addressed in a timely fashion.

• Demonstrates an overall working knowledge of the systems, infrastructure and applications supported by IS Division.

• Efficiently manages own time so that multiple tasks can be coordinated and are completed in a timely fashion.

• Effectively manages projects so that projects are completed on time with the desired result.

• Participates in on-call rotation: ensures that after hours coverage of customer support is maintained per department policies and procedures. Responds to calls in a timely manner. Takes responsibility for the problems reported and sees to it that a fix is provided to which the customer is kept informed and agrees.

• Solves problems independently, and if necessary, refers problems to other IS staff or appropriate vendor in a timely fashion.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Advise appropriate personnel on the implications of new, revised or existing systems that can be applied to a problem.

• Perform necessary investigation, analysis, and evaluation to determine and recommend project feasibility.

• Participates in user consulting, systems analysis, general systems design, vendor contracts and detail system design.

• Clearly explains system functions to users and co-workers, both in ad-hoc and formal situation. Successfully communicates appropriate information to the user or co-worker so the student can accomplish the desired tasks.

The term customer(s) includes all of the following: patients, families, physicians, referral sources, co-workers and the community.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED :

Required:

• Four (4) year degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

• One (1) year experience in programming and implementation of computer systems.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with existing software and operating systems.

• Ability to do programming, debugging and troubleshooting and some system analysis.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.

• Knowledge of health care environment and applications.
