Job Description

This position is responsible for the editing and quality review of communications distributed to Ameriprise Financial corporate office employees and field members across channels, including digital and print.

Responsibilities

Proof and copy-edit internal communications using the Ameriprise Financial style and brand guidelines.
- Conduct timely, thorough edits that result in a consistent and error-free content experience
- Review/edit content in multiple systems/applications, including Microsoft Word, internal database tools and content management systems (CMS)
- Closely coordinate with distribution partners to ensure timeliness of communication publication/delivery
- Develop content, as required
- Provide feedback and work with business partners to adjust/improve content, as needed

Conduct final quality review on email and enewsletters delivered via Corporate Communications as well as key content sections on company intranets
- Review email and intranet communications prior to distribution/publication to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards (distribution list/audience, formatting, content)
- Provide final signoff for email/enewsletter distribution

Communications governance and monitoring
- Monitor and respond to questions and feedback in Communications department inboxes
- Maintain Ameriprise Financial style guide and other standards documents, serve as enterprise resource for style questions
- Maintain core communication reference documents, including a vehicle inventory list, templates, contacts, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of progressive experience in communications or public relations.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated to seek out additional projects.
  • Willing to voice opinion and provide communications counsel.
  • Bachelor's degree.


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience with editorial processes, basic research tools and AP style.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including SharePoint.
  • Proven experience in the following areas: Outstanding writing and editing skills; applying consistent style and brand standards across communications; proven ability to build relationships and partner within the team and across the organization; very strong attention to detail; independent self-starter with ability to manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of/experience with financial services and the financial markets.
  • Content management system (CMS) experience.
  • Project management experience.
