Job Summary
The BlueCard Associate is responsible for the overall research and general processing of claims and inquiries. This position involves a high level of urgency in order to follow specific guidelines set forth by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) to ensure compliance standards are consistently met and claims are processed in a time-sensitive and cost-effective manner. In addition, this role will respond to a variety of inquiries by researching and utilizing multiple systems, online resources, BCBSA national program and internal policies.

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards

- Identifies and reviews claims issues such as pricing, benefits, membership and works diligently to resolve any issues or discrepancies so claims can be effectively processed.
- Interprets correspondence and inquiries to determine the appropriate action necessary to process and/or provide a response in a manner that is clear and concise.
- Provides assistance, service and education to all internal and external customers by researching and utilizing multiple systems, online resources, national program and internal policies.
- Responds to incoming customer service calls by focusing on responding in a manner that is clear and concise.
- Utilizes critical thinking and reasoning skills to initiate the processing of claim refunds or to make adjustments after a full process review has been completed and appropriately documents such action.
