The mission of Knute Nelson is to enrich the lives of everyone we serve.

This is part-time position working 40 hours a pay period, day shifts, at our Grand Arbor facility. The hours are 10 AM to 2 PM. This position has a $200 sign-on bonus!

Scope:

• Works primarily in the restaurant and banquet rooms. May occasionally need to assist on assisted living households and in the Bistro.
• Offer superior customer service, ensures food safety, and maintains a clean and orderly dining and banquet room.
• Responsible for serving customers quickly, efficiently and with complete knowledge of food and alcohol menus.
• Has frequent contact with customers, residents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service – Warmly greets and acknowledges guests upon arrival. Greet all customers with enthusiasm and friendliness. Answer customer questions about food, beverages, and our facilities accurately and in a friendly manner. Develop relationships with residents to know food preferences and increase efficiency. Provide the highest level of service in accordance with our standards. Maintain a professional appearance at all times. Ensure that guests have a positive and memorable experience.
• Dining Services – Inform customers of daily specials. Present menus to customers and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request. Maintain full knowledge of menus, recipes, and other pertinent information. When asked, explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods. Accurately takes guest orders. Communicate with chefs and cooks to ensure customer satisfaction. Identify food orders when ready and delivers items to tables in a timely manner. Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems. Correctly and precisely calculates each customer check or correctly records resident meal in point of sale system. Collect payments from customers and accurately processes payment.
• Food Safety and Sanitation – Responsible for constant sanitation, organization, and proper food handling. Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area. Follow all safety and sanitation policies.
• Setup, Cleaning and Stocking – Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware. Remove dishes and glasses from tables. Clean dishes, equipment and work area according to established procedures and schedules. Clean tables after customers have finished dining. Keep all supplies stocked in serving areas such as coffee, tableware, linens, condiments, etc.
• Team Participation – As a member of the team, actively participate in team activities, meetings and processes. Promote team-building concepts. Maintains professional relationships with all coworkers. Assist in the orientation of new team members as assigned. Effectively collaborate with staff to promote the residents’ total well-being. Act as an advocate for residents.
• Other Duties as Assigned – The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Education and Experience Required:

• Experience in food service as a server in a restaurant setting is preferred.
• Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
• Must have excellent people skills, outgoing personality and be self-motivated and organized.
• Must be committed to quality service, and to increase food and beverage knowledge. • Must have an ability to work with changing priorities.
• Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
• Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
