Job Summary
The Safe Kids Specialist provides training for community wide programs established by the specialist. This position must maintain current knowledge on childhood safety topics and injury prevention strategies, and maintains skills related to teaching tools. The specialist provides community education and monitors Safe Kids program effectiveness. The Safe Kids Specialist is responsible for the budgeting, intervention, staffing needs and evaluation of all programs under their responsibility.
Essential Job Functions
Remains current on childhood safety topics and injury prevention strategies. Provides training relevant to the community programs under their direction and prepares and presents Safe Kids meetings.
Monitors Safe Kids program effectiveness by providing input into the need to restructure current and new programs. Completes all program and grant reporting requests from Safe Kids Worldwide in a timely manner.
Assists with orientation and coordination of students completing clinical experiences with Safe Kids Grand Forks.
Assures that the Safe Kids programs have the necessary training tools, resources, and volunteers. Provides input into the program's inventory and budgeting needs. Assists with program grant writing and fundraising efforts.
Participates in speaking engagements such as local and state conferences, interviews with radio, newspaper and television and coordinates special events as requested.
Serves as a resource to the assigned Safe Kids subcommittees. Coordinates meetings and correspondence and assists with the review and writing of our long term plans for assigned injury prevention areas.
Solicits and secures volunteers to assist with community events and assures volunteers are trained for their job duties.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
• Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
• Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with:
• All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
• The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader.
• The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
Education & Experience
Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician
Safe Kids Worldwide
Within 12 Months of Start Date
Driver's License with Acceptable Driving Record
Department of Transportation (DOT)
