Description

The ED/Radiology RN is responsible for nursing related activities within the Emergency Department and Radiology Department.

As an RN in the Emergency Department he/she functions within the level of knowledge, experience and preparation to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of patient care particularly in emergent events. This RN demonstrates the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations, assumes the role of coordinator in emergency situations.

This Radiology/Cardiac RN will assess the patient's condition as related to the study ordered and assess the patient's condition during the study. Will also perform appropriate nursing interventions (IV insertions, catheter inserts, etc).

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, at a 0.8-1.0 FTE. This will be a shared FTE between ED and Radiology. Weekends will be scheduled in ED and Radiology time will be during the week; flexibility with scheduling is required as shifts may be rotating working 8s and 12s all shifts.

Duties Include:
  • Function as a critical care RN in Emergency Department
  • Will assist the radiologist with procedures sterile and non-sterile
  • Coordinates the patient's care from admission to discharge in ED or Radiology
  • Conducts effective assessments, interventions and documentation
  • Follows Lakewood Health System's conscious sedation policies and procedures
  • Completes post-procedure follow-up phone calls
  • Assists with diagnostic test like electrocardiograms
  • Assists patients with postoperative rehabilitation
  • Handles emergency cardiovascular episodes
  • Administers stress tests
  • Operates machinery that aids in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases
  • Competent with cardiac rhythms and EKG monitoring
Qualifications
  • Current MN RN licensure
  • Current ALCS, PALS and BLS
  • TNCC certification within 6 months of hire
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physician, staff and patient
  • Computer and telephone skills essential
