Job Summary

Provides leadership for the overall operations of communications services and electronics. Manages and oversees the training for all employees in both areas of focus. Ensures department staffing and workload are correlated appropriately. Acts as a resource for questions, concerns, or issues that staff or patrons may have. Manages personnel and coordinates the orientation of new employees.
Acts as resource person for visitors, callers, and families inquiring about patient locations. Provides information to patients and visitors. Assists various departments with special projects. Manages training and resources for the switchboard software and hardware to staff. This includes system based applications, software modules, interfaces, telephony interface hardware, station equipment and web-enabled features. Ensures efficiencies and error-free processes are set in place for the work of incoming mail.
Oversees the switchboard to make sure all emergency codes are initiated appropriately by ensuring all console attendants have the appropriate training and resources to follow through with step-by-step instructions. Responsible for making sure the emergency codes remain updated. In conjunction with the electronic and tech services department coordinates routine maintenance on supplies and technical items and educates staff as appropriate. Serves as the main contact for other departments related to communication aspects of emergency management.
Responsible for the safety, morale and efficiency of the electronics and technical services department. Must have significant knowledge about the operation and use of a wide range of test equipment and tools. Knowledge of computer programs, electronic troubleshooting, general mechanics, safety requirements, testing procedures, and codes and regulations essential. Knowledge of the operating principles of a wide range of non-medical equipment is required. Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances, as well as Sanford Health policies and procedures.
The manager will actively participate on service excellence teams and/or committees related to customer service. The manager will work closely with the director to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and accrediting agency standards are met. Assists with the budget and finance within the department(s) and the short and long range planning.
Keeps all personnel files and department records maintained and current. Coordinates work schedules for staff. Regulates time and attendance for staff. Responsible for the evaluation process, hiring, disciplining, and termination of employees. Develops and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) relating to the functions within the department.

Qualifications

Associate's degree required.
Five years minimum experience in electronics, customer service/equipment service preferred. Supervisory or related work experience required. Project management experience desired.
When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record.
