We are looking for a self-starter to join our team as Network Specialist in Hillsboro, ND. The purpose of this position is to provide support of our enterprise business systems, analysis to the assigned factory site, beet receiving stations, and they may support the Quality Lab. This position is required to provide backup support to other factories and beet receiving stations, Technical Services Center and Sidney Sugars. This position also requires participation in an afterhours, weekend and holiday on-call rotation.

The principal accountabilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Supports desktop and laptop computers, local and wide area networks (LANS and WANS), and applications which integrate with enterprise-supported systems. Administers network and email accounts in an Active Directory environment and Office 365, enforces user controls; tests and installs new software and computer hardware; applies patches as instructed to all systems; supports on prem systems, e.g., Factory Operating, LIMS\PIMS, Business Objects, SAP, AS400; applies upgrades and fixes to commercial applications, e.g., Word, Excel, E-Mail, Windows operating systems; provides system and program support to end-users on network systems; and designs, oversees installation of, and maintains infrastructure network cabling at all sites. Also provides training to end users as needed to ensure the effective utilization of IT resources. Cyber security of all systems should always be taken seriously.
  • Provides 24/7 technical problem-solving support to beet receiving stations during harvest, including installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware, training users and ensuring equipment operates properly to facilitate efficient harvest operations.
  • Installs, repairs, and maintains computers, printers, servers, and network equipment as required. Makes recommendations for major equipment repairs or replacement to the Network Supervisor/Infrastructure and Operations Manager.
  • May be requested by the Network Supervisor to review hardware and software and provide recommendations to meet business requirements. Monitors current hardware and software capabilities, changes, etc., in order to provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Provides direct liaison with end-users to define and implement automated solutions for unique one-of-a-kind situations including factory and harvest applications.
  • Evaluates and plans complex network systems and recommends resource requirements to maintain and/or expand service levels.
  • Using judgment based on broad experience, provides seasoned technical analysis in network planning, design / engineering and architecture development.
  • Develops technical standards and interface applications; provides resolution of complex network problems; identifies and evaluates new products. Ensures the enterprise data networks are maintained, including file servers and their software, cabling, maintaining backups, and applications software. This position is on-call after hours to provide technical support as required.
  • Provides timely support for customers (ACS Employees) to troubleshoot equipment, systems, network, and application problems; makes necessary equipment repairs, contacts vendors for support assistance, and authorizes equipment repair by outside vendors. Provides support and analysis and recommendations for equipment replacement to the Network Supervisor. The incumbent is required to monitor Help Desk tickets and be able to prioritize and follow-up appropriately. Problems of an unusual nature are referred to the Network Supervisor and/or Manager of Infrastructure and Operations for discussion prior to resolution.


Minimum Requirements

  • General knowledge of personal computers, local and wide area networks (LANS and WANS) and associated equipment, network communications and protocols, server hardware, software, and a technical knowledge of Microsoft server and desktop operating systems and other products
  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • One year of related experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization are critical.
  • A valid driver's license is required and reliable transportation is required.
