The CEO/ED serves as the chief executive officer and reports to and is directly held responsible by the Board of Directors. The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for key result areas as established by the Board of Directors to include board development, staff and volunteer development, program development, fiscal management, property management, financial development, community relations, and risk management.

Salary Range:$125,000 - $140,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum Candidate Criteria:

Accredited 4-year college degree preferred
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission
Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior management role at a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees. Prefer a minimum of five years' experience.
Must have proven ability to develop and strengthen community relationships
Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve
YMCA Organizational Leader Certification (Note: Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to five years to obtain via YMCA of the USA)

Essential Functions

The board believes its new CEO should be an experienced leader who has the background and qualities that will permit him or her to achieve excellence in the following roles:

Advocate the Vision of the Y and Developing a Culture of Diversity and Inclusion:Inspire and mobilize every community member, Y staff member, program volunteer, board volunteer, and Y member-everywhere the Y has a presence-to make our communities stronger. Actively interact and communicate with Y members, donors, staff, and volunteers and be an active and integral member of the community. Serve as an ambassador and leader for building a culture of Diversity and Inclusion. Develop and cultivate relationships with key community stakeholders, while always upholding the values of the Y, leading to successful fundraising efforts for the local YMCA.

Implement a Strategic Plan:Have the ability to work effectively with the Board, volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to implement a strategic roadmap focused on community needs. Lead staff in achieving these strategic goals through an annual operating plan. Lead volunteers in aligning committees and their charts of work to support the strategies and goals of the Y.

Improve Operating Performance:

Partner with the board to identify issues and develop an annual tactical plan for achieving key YMCA goals and objectives. Remain fully informed of all operational issues and be able to quickly address issues that arise as well as forecast future needs. Manage and direct the Y's operations and activities.

Select, Build and Manage the Staff Team:Serve as a leader who can motivate, engage, and retain staff in a positive and productive manner by creating and setting an expectation of excellence. Must have an open mind to innovative ways of improving services and expanding impact.
