About the job

The Executive Director of Veteran's Outreach of Wisconsin is the key management role responsible for the operational, administrative, and program implementation of the organization's mission. The role reports directly to the Board of Directors and is accountable for the fundraising, marketing, communications, community outreach and fiscal viability of the organization.

1) Board Governance: Works with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission.
??? Responsible for leading Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin in a manner that supports the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
??? Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
??? Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin to include the submission of an annual proposed budget to the Board.
??? Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensuring maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
??? Responsible for fundraising, donorship programs and developing other resources necessary to support Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's mission.

3) Organization Mission and Strategy : Works with the Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.
??? Responsible for implementation of Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's programs that carry out the organization's mission.
??? Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
??? Responsible for the enhancement of Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

4) Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are effective.
??? Responsible for the administration of Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's operations.
??? Responsible for the hiring, retention and management of competent, qualified staff.
??? Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the Board.
??? Planning and operation of annual budget.
??? Assisting the Board with the employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and the day-to-day operation of the organization. ??? Serving as Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's primary spokesperson to the organization's constituents, the media and the general public.
??? Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin's mission.
??? Work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their direction and decisions regarding fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization throughout the State.
??? Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
??? Review and approve contracts for services.
??? Other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Directors

Desired qualifications:
??? Bachelor's degree, MBA or qualified experience
??? 5-10 years of senior management experience
??? Experience in private, nonprofit or government based Social Services programs ??? Experience and demonstrated success in direct management of staff ??? Exposure to and understanding of Veterans and homeless needs ??? Strong public speaking ability
??? Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting
??? Demonstrated fundraising ability and donorship exposure

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Evening and weekend work may be required.
