The Chief Operating Officer (COO) Audit Team is seeking a Senior Audit Manager (SAM) to focus on auditing the activities within the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence organization. Experience in Remediation, Consent Order, and Risk activities is preferred. Experience in auditing Consumer Banking and Consumer Lending businesses is also desired.

This SAM will support the Audit Director for the COO Enforcement Action and Remediation Validation portfolio and will be accountable in maintaining a comprehensive multi-year strategy for auditing the Customer Remediation Center of Excellence business activities. This SAM will initially be responsible for the leading validation of Consent Order implementation as it relates to Customer Remediation, manage IA Remediation Coverage Coordination and support validation activities across the portfolio as needed. Ideal candidates for this position will have the ability to build relationships, provide timely, credible challenge to peer audit teams and business partners, and manage audit coverage that meets heightened regulatory expectations.

This SAM will also provide guidance and oversight to Internal Audit (IA) employees to ensure coverage is well planned, executed, and reported in accordance with IA methodology. They will also be accountable for management of issues to ensure timely resolution. They will work across IA teams and with senior-level leaders within the department. This SAM will also manage a team of 8-15 employees providing feedback, coaching, and development guidance.

The successful candidate for this role will demonstrate experience leading and coaching audit teams and have an understanding of and experience in front line risks. They will be an effective builder and leader of high performing teams focused on driving business results through collaborative leadership and team member engagement; keep up with fast paced organizational change, managing and caring for team members through that change; and further the strong risk management culture of Wells Fargo, living the vision and values of Wells Fargo.

This position must be capable of initiating action and possess strong execution and relationship management skills across all levels and functions, as well as with the regulators. A key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed environment. The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for excellence and results, and personal accountability for achievement and outcomes.

Specific Duties:

Manage a team of audit staff responsible for a defined segment of the Audit Plan.
Accountable for assessing associated risks and controls and completing engagements within their segment of the audit plan. Responsible for resource management and assisting broader team in overall audit plan completion.
Provides timely feedback, coaching and monitoring of development plans.
Builds and maintains a proficient team of auditors.
Develops and maintains strong business relationships with leadership across WF and other stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies.
Plans and organizes work in an annual cycle, not just project cycle.
Ensures audit engagements are risk-based, and executed according to Internal Audit policies and guidance.

Additional responsibilities:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of inherent risk and processes that manage risk at Wells Fargo.
Evaluate current audit approaches and practices, providing thought leadership on industry best practices and regulatory changes, and driving continued maturation and evolution of the audit function.
Identifying thematic risk trends observed across the enterprise for purposes of influencing strategic control direction and process maturity.
Represent the COO Audit team as a highly engaged, visible, and influential leader.
Establish development plans for each team member that facilitates proficiency and excellence in current positions and prepares team members for future opportunities.
Possess a strong working knowledge of applicable regulations including the ability to form opinions on the design and effectiveness of regulatory compliance and operational controls.
Provide credible challenge to business leaders as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following audit or risk functions: leading teams covering risk identification, mitigation and management (includes audit, legal, operational risk, compliance risk, credit risk, market risk, technology risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for risk.)
2+ years of leadership experience

Desired Qualifications

Experience at a financial institution or accounting firm
A BS/BA degree or higher
Leadership experience
Solid knowledge and understanding of audit or risk methodologies and supporting tools
Strong understanding of financial regulatory environment
Certification in one or more of the following: CPA, CAMS, CRCM, CIA, CISA or Commissioned Bank Examiner designation
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
Solid problem solving skills
Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

Other Desired Qualifications

Understanding of and experience in Consumer Banking
Understanding and experience in first and second line of defense risk management programs/practices as well as associated regulatory compliance risks and programs
Experience with managing execution and/or validation of customer remediation activities and/or regulatory matters (MRAs, Consent Orders).
Good understanding of Institution of Internal Audit (IIA) standards, regulatory requirements, and industry guidelines
Experience with specific focus in operational and regulatory risk management, audit, or related risk management functions.
Foundational knowledge of key processes, regulations, risks and controls within the Consumer Banking and/or Consumer Lending portfolios.
Ability to drive the execution of projects/initiatives with high risk and complexity.
