The COTA will implement, with minimal supervision, high-quality occupational therapy services for residents and caregivers in accordance with the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy, State, Federal, and MMH regulations, policies and procedures. DUTIES Major job functions include ensuring that all residents are afforded the opportunity to achieve and maintain their highest level of function, under the direction of the OTR. Maintaining resident care records and accurate billing records is a must. Communicating effectively with all necessary disciplines regarding resident progress, problems and approaches to residents. Ensure continuation of appropriate therapeutic follow-up programs. Performs supervisory duties of Rehab Aides in direct resident care or related duties. QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) accredited program for Occupational Therapy Assistant. Candidate must possess an American Occupational Therapy Certification Board Certificate for Occupational Therapy Assistant. Experience in adult acute and long term care facility desired but not required. Ability to incorporate all aspects of OT in total resident care as regulations allow. Team philosophy and desire to facilitate long term care residents to their highest level of function. Able to grasp new theories and principles and implement them in practice. The hours for this position are casual. You will not be scheduled any set hours, but will pick up available shifts as open/desired.
