The Plant Accountant/Analyst position reports directly to the Manager of Finance as part of the financial team.

Essential Responsibilities
* Provides complete and accurate accounting for construction and retirement work orders (labor, material and overhead) according to RUS Uniform System of Accounts and Work Order Procedures. Provides supporting documentation.
* Updates Standard Costs. Reconciles work orders and updates continuing property records for all construction and retirement work and special equipment costs. Prepares Special Equipment Forms and Form 219's.
* Maintains and reconciles inventory of line materials, resale material, and satellite internet materials: Coordinates annual physical inventory and reconciles inventory records.
* Develops and maintains fixed asset accounts and related depreciation schedules.
* Reconciles monthly bank statements and prepares cash reports for board report.
* Prepares annual cash budget and updates actuals monthly.
* Works with Operations department to coordinate annual contracting process including updating of contractor pricing and obtaining Certificates of Insurance and Hold Harmless Agreements.
* Maintains and updates general ledger for subsidiaries of SCEC and prepares monthly financial reports which require the application of accounting principles, investigation, verification, classification, reconciling and recording of data.
* Provides financial analysis in support of economic development efforts and loans.
* Coordinates internal data gathering in support of the annual financial audit and periodically prepared cost-of-service studies.
* Coordinates purging of financial records according to Cooperative Policy.

This position is responsible for providing back-up for a number of general accounting and office responsibilities including but not limited to:
* Processing annual capital credit allocation and annual refund, requests for capital credit estate refunds, and reconciling capital credit balances.
* Providing notary service for signing and filing of easements.
* Preparing monthly sales tax report.
* Responding to member inquiries

The candidate must also possess the ability to work independently, coordinate with others, communicate changes and progress, and complete projects on time and within budget.

Experience and Education
* Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance or 5 years equivalent, relevant work experience is required.
* Knowledge of GAAP accounting is required.
* Advanced degree or CPA is desirable.
* Specific experience in a rural utility cooperative accounting/finance or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge is desired.
* Must acquire RUS Uniform Systems of Accounts and Construction Work Order procedure knowledge in a reasonable amount of time.
* Knowledge of cost accounting and general accounting practices.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office / Office365.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
* Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
* Demonstrate cooperative shared values and embodies servant leadership.

The following work environment descriptions represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
* The employee is regularly exposed to inside office conditions, sitting at a desk or work center operating a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
* Able to sit for 8 hours or more.
* Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.

* Occasional travel (company vehicle or commercial vehicle) may be required.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical exam, including drug and alcohol testing.
* Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.
