Projects are more stand-alone than programs; program management is typically the orchestration of several related projects. At entry level individual contributor roles, the primary focus will be project management. As one advances through the career path, their focus may be project or program focused, depending on business need.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Overall accountability for program execution for assigned projects within Optum Technology M&A Infrastructure
  • Drive deliverables to meet project deadlines / milestones
  • Track and update project plans and documentation
  • Identify and report issues with the project. Mitigate identified issues
  • Engage resources (management, service vendors, business segment leads, etc.) for project assignments
  • Single point of contact for all project IT vendors / providers
  • Work with UHG IT Merger and Acquisition team to deploy enterprise standards and acquisition assimilation.
  • Determine requirements through interface with customer and adherence to corporate standards
  • Document weekly status reports including project progress, key milestones, and tasks accomplished, etc. Host weekly status call with project team
  • Work within Optum Technology processes for equipment and services procurement
  • Perform Optum Technology's change management procedures to create, submit, and coordinate various change requests associated with Optum Technology Network Services current and future projects
  • Work with Optum Technology data / voice / security / server engineers to determine equipment and circuit equipment specifications
  • Work with supply chain management for equipment and / or circuit orders
  • Coordinate voice / data / security network equipment, servers, printers, and cable installation to ensure project deadlines are met, adhering to published lead times and standards
  • Coordinate and consolidate various remote site activities, i.e. site surveys, vendor scheduling, site contact reviews, and follow-up coordination for installation of infrastructure related activities (servers, racks, power, cabling, circuits, etc)
  • Document and validate operational readiness hand-off to monitoring and management teams

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in project management with infrastructure and / or application deployment
  • Hands-on experience with large system rollout deployment activities
  • Background in fundamental voice and data network technologies (e.g., LAN / WAN, network routing protocols, IPT, IVR)
  • Demonstrated success leading complex network initiatives in a matrixed organization
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced proficiency in creating PowerPoint presentations, Visio, and Excel spreadsheets
  • Experience with budget tracking and complex cost benefit analysis
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive VoiceResponse (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with real estate projects and contractors
  • Experience with acquisition integration
  • Experience with LAN, VOIP installations and deployments
  • Willingness to take ownership and be accountable for delivery of services to the business partner
  • Very strong understanding of distributed technologies and architecture
  • Ability to build and manage relationships across a large enterprise
  • C-level interface and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence decisions from top down and bottom up
  • Solid analytical, problem-solving and financial analysis skills
  • International experience
