The Program Coordinator will recruit new students, advise students as they complete their academic program, and help students gain employment with top tier employers. This is a 12- month, full-time, benefit-eligible position. This position is supervised by the Department Head. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position. SDSU is especially interested in candidates that can contribute to and/or coordinate course offerings that address the experiences of underrepresented minorities in organizations. RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent will significantly increase student recruitment by working closely with the ABS Communications and Marketing Director to develop and implement program level marketing strategies, including but not limited to, national media presence, department events, and student-focused programs. The incumbent will significantly increase student retention, and engagement by playing a pivotal role in directing student behavior toward activities that will nurture and support their education, career, and life goal achievement success. The successful candidate will coordinate accreditation compliance, develop and implement consistent messaging, and use benchmarking and best practices to develop department policies and procedures. The Program Coordinator helps to represent the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering with industry, at college and university meetings as well as regional and national events. The successful candidate will serve as advisor for Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Agricultural Systems Technology, and some Precision Agriculture students. Some travel will be required that may include overnight stays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ??? An earned Master's degree by appointment date in field related to Agriculture, Engineering, Marketing, Business, or Student Development. ??? At least one year of relevant experience in the areas of agriculture production, agriculture science, engineering, or technology. ??? Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. ??? Must be highly skilled in critical thinking, information gathering, data collection, and analysis. ??? Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. ??? Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ??? Familiarity with South Dakota Board of Regents and South Dakota State University policies and procedures. ??? Experience developing and coordinating events and programs. ??? Experience developing and implementing marketing materials and strategies. ??? Experience with curriculum management. ??? Experience advising university students.
