Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists in implementing the nursing process throughout the care continuum under the direction of the registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, or licensed practitioner. This practice includes dependent and interdependent functions. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients. Documents a thorough medical history from patient. Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Counseling patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans. The LPN or CMA demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.

Department Details

This position can be filled with either a LPN or CMA.
LPN or CMA will work with a provider at Neilson Place.

Qualifications

LPN: Must have graduated from a school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Associate's degree in practical nursing is preferred.
Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility. Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.

CMA: High school diploma; some college preferred. Successful completion of Medical Assistant course. Maintains professional certification through American Association of Medical Assistants.
