This position is critical to ensure wastewater meets the contractual and regulatory requirements for discharge to local waterways and ultimately Lake Michigan 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To meet this goal requires a number of trades, operators and managers working as a coordinated team to maintain the system. This position is one of those required for this team.

Under general supervision of supervisor and/or lead, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical components of equipment to keep electrically dependent equipment operational to maintain proper operation of a wastewater treatment plant setting for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District .

Is required to accurately maintain and update records, documents, and manuals including electronic media. Must provide current, timely, accurate, and complete data, for all work assigned. Is required to follow current company/department policy and procedures, is required to fully participate in improvement initiatives, including but not limited t job plans, workflows, job safety analysis, standard maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance improvement initiatives, efficiency activities, use of technology based solutions, condition assessments and reliability initiatives.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES
Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
Installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls electrical equipment. Also includes installation of instrumentation for Instrument Technicians working with the Instrument Technicians, if necessary.
Assists supervisor in implementing a preventive maintenance schedule.
Maintains repair and maintenance records.
Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Background
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Successful completion of a formal State electrical apprenticeship program, preferably Maintenance

Job Skills/Characteristics
Has a good working knowledge of all tools, bender, threader, pullers, simple electrical meters, etc.
Ability to read technical material, blueprints (understands symbols, can trace and understand control and power circuits, use print for troubleshooting).
Knowledge of electrical codes, safety devices and procedures.
Experience with VFD's and programmable controllers
Ability to do simple motor troubleshooting
Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers. If working in field, ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with public.
Ability to prepare accurate oral and written reports.
Ability to enter data
Basic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software.
Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
Ability to work in confined spaces and to wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.

Experience/Knowledge
Five years Journeyman experience

Work Environment: Work involves intermittent exposure to confined entry areas, hazardous gases, heights, weather, noise, dirt, dust, organic waste, wet environments, and explosive environments. If working in field locations, employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions including extremes in temperature and humidity.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilites required on this job include close vision and distance vision.

Routine Physical Activities of Electrician Position
Manhandling of ladders and scaffolding weighing 22 - 120 lbs. (Assistance may be needed) Manhandling of lifting devices weighing 20 - 150 lbs. (Assistance may be needed)
Manhandling and wearing SCBA units that weigh approximately 30 lbs.
Manhandling equipment (motors, actuators, breakers, etc.) weighing 5 - 150 lbs. (Assistance may be needed).
Working in awkward positions at times.
Working with tools, which require various amounts of force pulling and pushing such as pry bars.

Work Hours: Generally works weekdays first shift hours and is subject to overtime, recall, call-in and on-call. If in Field, requires on-call as assigned to respond to off-hour call-outs by maintaining on call status 24/7. This on call also applies to weather events to cover nights, weekends and holidays. Will be assigned to be on-call for the Service Truck.
