Shift: Rotating. Most likely 2nd shift. Monday-Friday second or third shift, sometimes changing between the two - 3-11 PM (second shift) or 11 PM-7AM(third shift) - as well as 12 hour shifts both Saturday and Sunday (7PM-7AM) every other weekend (8-12 hour shifts) Facility is moving to a 24 x 7 operation, so it could involve both evenings and weekends.
preferred to have someone with a chemistry background who is comfortable doing wet chemistry for analytical tests (ICP, XRF, bomb calorimetry, chlorine analysis, etc.). They do not necessarily need to have experience in these particular tests as resources can be trained. Experience with EPA methods and/or other regulatory agencies is also a plus.

As a(n) Incinerator Laboratory Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
  • Prepares, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment for testing.
  • Test incinerator solvents and nonpumpable wastes for Btu content, ash, percent H2O, flash point, pH, viscosity, density, and chlorine content.
  • Maintain data files for all analyses on wastes received, treated, or shipped offsite. Records test results in laboratory technical notebooks or on electronic equipment programs. Communicates results and information.
  • Utilizes standard equipment or may work with new machines. Participates in process modification as needed.
  • Assist in sampling, data collection, and special testing as required
  • Works with technical personnel to develop a laboratory network of technical resources that can be used to complete assignments.
  • Coordinate sampling and testing by outside laboratories, act as liaison for outside testing activities, and maintain sampling and analytical data files.
  • Maintain quality control for laboratory activities.
  • This position requires working on a rotating shift (nights/weekends/holidays)-further details to be provided.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • Strong preference for vocational/technical or college education in chemistry or environmental sciences.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of chemical laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Must work independently with moderate level of supervision.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with hourly employees as well as management.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Chemical laboratory experience in a RCRA permitted Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility.
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), XRF, BTU testing knowledge and experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting and pace.
  • Experience working within U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 17025 testing laboratory accreditation.
  • Good verbal communication skills to communicate to non-analytical audiences.
