As a Category Manager, you will work under the direction of the local Supply Chain Manager, the Category Manager is responsible to develop, plan and implement sourcing and procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. Collaborate with global supply chain teams as well as local material planning teams to ensure an adequate supply base is developed and maintained to ensure material availability to support local business and customer needs. Participate in sourcing activities to support new product development. Your responsibilities Sourcing Strategy - Leveraging the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) process, implements effective sourcing strategies in line with local and global business and category strategies. Ensures suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements. Provide input from own sourcing area on yearly basis, do quarterly Action Planning and monthly KPI reviews. Responsible for Supplier performance, Savings, Payment terms, OTD, Quality, lead time budget target settings and follow up for continuous improvement and Implement close the gap actions when needed. Procurement - Manages planning and tracking of procurement activities for responsible categories, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts. Minimizes risk regarding quality and financial exposure by buying in accordance with quality and commercial procedures and in accordance with company guidelines. Negotiation - Negotiates agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, terms and conditions. Supplier Agreements - Ensures identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers (focusing on quality, delivery, cost and sustainability) in accordance with Company policies, global category strategies and defines and establishes local standard agreements with all major suppliers. Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase contracts/terms and conditions in line with Company directives and guidelines. Special programs - Designs and implements cost-out programs and/or processes to reach annual savings and operational cost reduction targets. Business Continuity - Applies and implements PL standards, tools, and processes focused on business continuity for the assigned commodity or group of commodities. Product Life Cycle - Provide support to new product development R projects for responsible categories. Responsible of supplier selections for the R projects. Then supports the local service organization for category component availability and costs through product lifecycles. Support smooth ramp-down and transition into classic life cycle phase. Personal development - Actively search suitable trainings for own category from Group and external sources. Follow personal training plan based on knowledge mapping and functional manager and direct manager inputs. Your background Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field and minimum 5 years of progressive experience OR Associate degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field and minimum 7 years of progressive experience required. MBA or master's degree is preferred. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US. Travel less than 15% both domestic and international. Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes and experience working in / with R is an asset. Proficient with MS Office Suite, SAP knowledge is an asset. Continuous Improvement focus be demanding and do not accept average results. Able to decide when, what and how to solve the problem and then take the responsibility with prompt delivery.
