This will require researching the law, investigating facts, and preparing legal documents. Performs legal assignments that are varied and complex in nature. Assignments may be broad, requiring originality, ingenuity, and a high degree of technical skill.This position plays a key real estate and licensing role in a busy corporate acquisition and divestiture practice. Assignments may be broad, requiring originality, ingenuity, and a high degree of technical skill.Job ResponsibilitiesOrder and review title reportsReview and analyze surveysDraft objection letters in the event of any survey or title issuesPrepare closing checklist and closing documents with assistance of legal counselCoordinate closingsPrepare deeds and transfer documentsCommunicate with title company and counter parties concerning real estate and licensing mattersHeavily involved in problem solving solutions and will act as a liaison with business owners and internal business units to resolve issues that may arise from transactions.Research ownership of company parcels of real propertyEnsure that state-specific regulatory requirements regarding divestitures and acquisitions are met. Will include filing licensing applications.Assist the attorneys handling the divestitures and/or acquisitions as neededRequirements:Highly organizedExcellent problem-solving skillsStrong analytical skillsHigh attention to detailStrong judgmentHighly responsive during closingsMust be able to research and summarize statues and rules and make required regulatory filings with assistance of legal counselMust be familiar with lien releases, deeds, escrow agreements and other real estate related documents5+ years of legal research and writing experienceExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf-starter with the ability to meet deadlinesProficiency in Word and ExcelReal Estate closing experience strongly preferred#SCIPostal Code: 77019Category (Portal Searching): LegalJob Location: US-TX - Houston
