Position Summary:
The Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to conduct research in the field of an emerging class of metal-based hybrid nanomaterials (e.g., MOFs, COFs). The project focuses on the exploration of utilizing food-grade constituents for the synthesis and application of porous nanocomposites for food enzyme encapsulation. The performances of enzyme encapsulated porous nanocomposites in food system will be evaluated. The successful candidate requires to undertake independent research on self-assembly, wet-chemistry, porous and crystalline materials, and related characterization methods. In addition, the individual is expected to analyze results and data with appropriate statistical methods, write scientific reports and manuscripts for publication, and deliver presentations at scientific meetings and to other interested parties. The individual is also expected to assist in training and supervising graduate student researchers, manage lab facilities, and perform other duties requested by the PI. The initial appointment of this position is for three years, with an opportunity for renewal depending on progress made and funding.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Holds an earned Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience in the synthesis and characterization (e.g. pXRD, SEM, TEM, TGA) of porous nanomaterials.
- Demonstrated experience in enzymatic kinetics study
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to write manuscripts for research papers and present work in conference
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience on MOF synthesis, enzyme encapsulation, protein expression in yeast.
Advertised salary: $40,000+
