Information Technology System Administrator

The position of IT Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for providing in-house and remote technical PC hardware and software support for plant operations and end-users spread over five locations across the US. This position will respond to end-user calls/trouble reports and personally visit users to troubleshoot the nature of the problem and take the necessary course of action to resolve it. This position must be able to work closely with and be able to communicate effectively with end-users with varying levels of technical abilities, ranging from workers at the plant level up to managers/executives at the corporate offices.

This position will work under the supervision of the IT Director; however, will require taking direction from other Smart Sand executive managers.

This position may be based primarily at our Oakdale, WI facility or our Ottawa, IL facility, but will require travel to other Smart Sand offices/locations as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide in-house and remote technical PC hardware and software support for users spread over five locations across the US.
• Respond to service calls to troubleshoot the nature of reported problems and take necessary steps to resolve those problems.
• Build and configure PCs and laptops, as well as load software.
• Assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems including servers, network components, peripherals, audiovisual equipment, and appropriate operating systems and back-office applications.
• Assist the IT Director in running and terminating infrastructure cabling between workstations and communication closets.
• Track incoming IT requests, as well as to conduct proactive maintenance to increase productivity and uptime throughout the company.
• Assist in the development, implementation, installation, and operation of systems for the organization.
• Assist and train end-users with various software and hardware issues.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5 + years of experience as an IT support network technician, system administrator, or equivalent education.
• Technical Certifications a plus (A+, Network+, MCP, MCSA, CCENT, CCNA, etc.)

• Strong decision making, leadership, and communication skills required.
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
• Great verbal communication and detailed documentation skills.
• Desire to learn and gain experience in a variety of IT areas.
