Accounting Manager

Due to growth, Cassia, a nonprofit, faith-based affiliation between Augustana Care and Elim Care based in Edina, MN, is hiring an experienced, process-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Accounting Department to prepare and review monthly financial statements, annual budgets, and annual audit schedules. This role requires rigorous attention to detail, and great communication skills in order to manage various accounting projects.

Our ideal candidate must have 3-5 years of long-term care accounting, reporting, budgeting, and auditing experience. This person must be a team player who leads by example and has a strong work ethic.

Accounting Manager responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, cost reports, annual budgets, and annual audit schedules.
• Review and file annual Medicare and Medicaid Cost Reports and 990s.
• Supervise and manage staff, provide ongoing training, and maintain strong employee relationships.
• Lead on Month-End Close by working with staff Accountant to compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements for both owned and managed Skilled Nursing Homes, Assisted Living, and HUD properties.
• Work with auditors' / owners' accountants for the specific year-end reporting requirements of managed facilities (with varying deadlines).
• Oversee timely filing for sales tax return, property tax exemption or payments, estimated income tax payments as needed for each assigned facility. Prepare or review annual surveys assigned to staff.
• Establish and maintain fiscal procedures and records; develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, GAAP and GASB.
• Prepare feasibility analysis for capital projects and acquisitions.
• Perform additional tasks as needed.
  

Accounting Manager skills and requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• Must have 3-5 years of long-term care accounting, reporting, budgeting, and auditing experience.
• CPA designation or HUD experience a plus.
• Understand not-for-profit accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Must possess strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency with computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
