ACCOUNTANT

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency, a joint-action electric utility located in Rochester Minnesota, seeks an individual to maintain and generate accounting work papers, journal entries, graphs, financial statements, and reports to present the financial position of the Agency in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the uniform system of accounts prescribed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The position is also responsible for maintaining fixed assets,
property taxes, and coal, spare parts, and diesel fuel inventory ledgers; coordinating member operation &  maintenance monthly expense reimbursements; and completing balance sheet reconciliations and
other analysis reports. Excellent compensation and benefits package available. Successful completion of a criminal/consumer background and alcohol/drug use screening required.

Desired Education and Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business
 Three or more years of experience in accounting or finance related position
 A working knowledge of general ledger, capital asset accounting, and preparation of financial statements
