Summary

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, The Director of DevOps & IT is responsible for scaling and managing Avionte's hybrid Software-as-a-Service technical infrastructure and operations to support a growing base of customers and applications. The Director will manage a team of operational DBAs, DevOps engineers embedded in Agile development teams, and systems engineers responsible for the company's SaaS environment. This role is critical to accelerating product innovation and scaling operations, ensuring delivery of value to customers, and maintaining Aviont??'s market leadership.


Responsibilities include network, database and application server management, and strategy across both private and public cloud providers. Collaboration with the development team through joint development of the technology architecture and support of feature development with DevOps practices is crucial. The Director will be an advocate for customer success through the creation of a unified IT and Development service desk model, in close partnership with support and implementation teams. This position will oversee IT services, including end user support, desktop/laptop support, file servers, and data management, as well as productivity, messaging and collaboration tools across multiple offices.


This is what you'll do:

  • Evolve the technical architecture to utilize the latest SaaS, mobile, and analytics technologies in support of a diverse and evolving product suite.
  • Recruit, train, structure, and manage the technology team, predominantly located in Eagan, Minnesota, with experts in DevOps, technical operations, infrastructure, and corporate IT.
  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement and innovation; maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies, continually assess the impact of new technologies against strategic business needs.
  • Own and drive Information Security best practices throughout the organization ensuring the security and integrity of both company and customer data.
  • Lead relevant security and data integrity certification activities including compliance, sales RFPs and security questionnaires for prospective customers.
  • Lead the development of the IT infrastructure and operations service strategy and technical roadmap and ensures its integration with corporate strategic plans.
  • In partnership with the Chief Architect, design and implement a robust technology architecture.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor; build and maintain relationships with other IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs. Ensure the cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and respond with the agility required to address changing business priorities.
  • Define and maintains Infrastructure IT budget and capital expenditures including, but not limited to, expenditures, capital requests, labor and variance reporting. Manage IT vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Promote outstanding customer relations.


This is what you'll need:

  • 8+ years' experience in IT leadership roles demonstrating technical and professional development. Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field required.
  • Extensive experience managing operations and delivery of a secure, 'always on' SaaS-based solution. Application of regulatory compliance with SOX, GDPR and information security a plus.
  • Strong strategic planning skills to ensure innovative products and features are shipped in a timely manner while balancing quality and efficiency.
  • Broad and deep understanding of modern computing technology, systems and network architecture, data management, information security, and cloud-based services. Experience in Microsoft technologies preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in scalable, multi-tenant SaaS application design principles and architecture, as well as utilization of major cloud services providers: AWS IaaS and PaaS, Azure IaaS and PaaS.
  • Effective internal and external relationship builder with strong communication skills. Comfortable in front of customers.
  • Strong business acumen; quickly grasps key business drivers in the industry and organization.
  • Proven ability to run a highly-effective support organization. Ability to govern and run managed services.
  • Experience developing and managing a budget, managing assets, and negotiating with vendors.
