The Accountant is responsible for maintaining systems of accounting and controls by following State mandates and UFARS guidelines.  The Accountant manages District funds and accounting activities, assists in budget preparation and projections, and assists the Business Manager with cash management and cash flow.

Schedule:  Full-time (40 hours per week) / 12 month position

Pay Rate:  Pay range commensurate with education and experience: approximate range of $22.50 - $28.00 ($46,800 - $58,240)

Job Responsibilities: 
 
Proper and accurate accounting of all receipts and expenditures according to UFARS and compliance with district policy.

Perform periodic review of account codes in relation to UFARS requirements.

Maintain continuous documentation sufficient for completion of the annual audit.

Assist in the preparation of year-end accrual and audit worksheets and adjusting/closing entries.

Report sales tax monthly to the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

Maintain files for tax identification numbers for non-employees; prepare and issue 1099 forms.

Prepare all journal entries for fund transfers, adjustments, and corrections.

Substitute tracking for payroll and administration of vouchers.

Assist with budget preparation and projections.

Monitor internal budget controls.

Process checks for disbursement and create invoices where necessary.

Assist in management and maintaining Student Activity Accounts.

Management of Skyward Users and Financial Management.

Cash management and cash flow.

Account management for Auxiliary Account, Flex Benefits Account, and Health Savings Account.

Prepare quarterly BCCI reports.

Prepare SEDRA Expenditures.

Create budgets and request funds based on expenditures for Federal Programs/SERVS.

Administration support to the Business Manager.
 

 Education and Experience:

 AAS degree in Accounting required.

Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred.
