Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Position Overview

The Supervisor, Picking is responsible for managing and developing individual staff members. This position assists in the planning, developing and implementing new and revised Picking programs, policies and procedures in order to be responsive to the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for assuring thorough audits, reports and connection with the team and the business that company's Picking programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

  • Manage team & personal workload; defining, communicating & executing (as needed) deliverables & their timelines to achieve business objectives & department goals
  • Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, business plans and past business experience
  • Perform or understand the work supervised and supervise entire team as needed
  • Provide mentorship to employees through effective training, coaching and team building
  • Engage regularly & appropriately with internal partners, key customers & suppliers as well as employees to maintain strong relationships and an understanding of internal & external factors and strategies impacting the business
  • Leading, planning and organizing team staff meetings. Providing business and team updates. Ensure that action items are completed in a timely manner
  • Understand and develop the talent of individuals on your team; partner with appropriate areas to organize development activities as needed
  • Provide direction and guidance to employees and manage employee relations issues appropriately
  • Advocate change by understanding the need and impact to the business. Communicate clearly with team members
  • Monitor and evaluate performance dashboards and reports; determine root cause of issues & propose recommendations for resolution. May lead improvement efforts

  • May participate on cross-functional committees, task forces

Position Specific Info:
  • Support your back-up Supervisor in their absence (keep them informed of all situations)
  • Maintain your designated (&backup) area pick|pack|ship
  • Check into old order concerns
  • Check pick screens to keep track of the overall production picture
  • Provide team members with hourly bay pending order quantity
  • Manage area labor force; work interactively and proactively with the Work-Flow Coordinators to ensure all picks are being processed as efficiently as possible as early in the day as feasible to meet the expected daily hourly goals
  • Observe, identify and work with all team members that need additional on the job training to ensure they are following the established SOP for Picking
  • When designated to facilitate the Bi-weekly Supervisor meeting, perform the duties and responsibilities as outlined
  • Review|maintain pick bay checklists
  • Daily review & sign off of day/evening shift checklists
  • Responsible for productivity statistics review and communication
  • Review daily, weekly, monthly stats with Coordinator/Manager
  • Generate idea for continual improvements towards efficiencies through driving accountability in leveraging consistently Best Picking Practices

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Typically, 1st time management position
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate software
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, understand and utilize statistical data for the department and company
  • Demonstrates ability to provide feedback in a positive manner
  • Demonstrates conflict management skills as needed
  • Demonstrates ability to hold self and others accountable to delivering business results
  • Demonstrates confidentiality
  • Able to twist or bend and occasionally climb stairs
  • Able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Capable of spending 8-10 hours walking/standing on concrete
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder height
  • Regular and consistent attendance due to need to access physical equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Digi-Key Order Fulfillment, Custodial or other relevant work experience
  • Previous team lead or supervisor experience
  • Demonstrates ability to create and present power point presentations as needed
