Counselor

Position Information

This position full-time, 10 month position exists to offer individual and group counseling to students who are experiencing personal, professional, educational, and/or career concerns; offer consultation services to faculty and staff; supervise counseling practicum/intern students; provide outreach programming to the campus community; serve on-call duty on a rotating basis with the rest of the Counseling Center staff, and complete other projects as requested by the director and demanded by the priorities of the office. The individual in this position will also actively participate in department and University in-services, meetings, and committees, as well as maintain awareness of current best practice guidelines through continuing education and professional development activities.

Minimum Requirements

• A Master's degree in Counseling or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (by May 31, 2021).
• The required skill set for the position includes psychotherapy skills with a wide range of diagnoses.
• Must hold or be eligible to receive a State of North Dakota license in psychology, counseling, or social work (within one year from date of hire).
• Excellent clinical, communication, planning and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a college/university counseling center (practicum or internship experience is appropriate).
• Experience and skills in mental health outreach.
• Graduation from an accredited mental health program (e.g., CACREP, APA).
• Post-graduate professional experience.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative to develop program ideas, and collaborate with colleagues.
• Experience and commitment to working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Advertised Salary: $44,000+/year
