The Right of Way Section Manager provides leadership and direction to the right of way team. The Section Manager also coordinates with other area, regional, and national managers within the company to advance technical excellence and support delivery of Company services.
The position will involve working closely with Company leadership to drive program development in the North Central Region (primarily Minnesota and Wisconsin) across all service lines and client asset types. The candidate must have a strong technical understanding pertaining to power, oil and gas, mining, industrial, transportation and water-related real estate and right of way programs. The candidate will also support the goals and vision of Company through regular communication between the local management team, other technical groups and business development managers within the company.
The individual will be responsible for the operations of the right of way group in the MN/WI area and provide consulting and project management leadership. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of skills to manage and grow a multi-disciplined sector, including business development which requires networking and developing leads, establishing/managing client relationships, and strategic thinking for both our clients and internal programs. It also includes working with business development managers to identify and promote cross-sector opportunities, forecast market changes and anticipate their impacts to clients; lead pre-proposal visitations, and support proposal preparation with technical and marketing staff by providing client-centric input and feedback; and giving presentations to clients and project stakeholders.
Management
Lead and manage the daily operations of the right of way section
Coach, counsel and manage performance of direct reports
Ensure staff have the tools and training necessary to meet objectives
Responsible for interview and selection activities as openings arise
Act as the liaison for communication and collaboration with other departments and sections
Organize and coordinate ongoing training and career development opportunities for direct reports
Conduct coaching conversations as needed
Lead quality control, including confirmation that quality work is planned and organized throughout the project and implement corrective measures as needed
Client Development
Develop relationships in the marketplace with potential clients and define technical solutions to address opportunities discovered through relationship development activities
Support marketing leadership in Companyfting client capture plan strategies and prioritize marketing and business development efforts
Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to create a bridge between technical resources and client needs
Identify and develop opportunities to expand services to existing clients
Lead risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverables
Act as the technical SME for the local area right of way market
Work with area and regional leadership to strategically expand service offerings in the local area
Project Management
End to end project management for large and/or complex right of way projects
Coordinate work of multidisciplinary teams including both internal and external resources
Manage project budgets
Adhere to QA/QC procedures

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree
10 years of experience in the right of way industry
3 years of experience in developing and managing diverse teams
Experience developing plans, writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for complex right of way projects with multi-disciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts;
Experience with marketing clients within the energy, mining, oil and gas, industrial, transportation and/or water markets in MN/WI
Proficiency with MS Office suite, strong people skills, excellent written and verbal communications skills
The candidate should demonstrate strong conceptual, organizational and problem-solving abilities
Must have the ability to productively interact with various teams and have excellent organizational, project management and communication both written and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications

Proven track record in developing, mentoring and managing staff is desired
