The Product Manager is responsible for the ongoing management, enhancement and development of several products within the United Clinical Services Portfolio. He/she will work with various business/market groups across the organization to review existing analytic processes, facilitate the gathering of requirements and influence the future direction of the Analytic platform to improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and optimize product performance.

The Product Manager will provide product leadership and expertise to drive the development activities within the technology engineering organization and handle cross-functional interaction with informatics, IT and operations groups within UCS.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • General product management - defining market requirements, product roadmaps, and packaging the features into product releases for the assigned product capabilities
  • Firm grounding in healthcare technology data standards like HL7, X12, etc.
  • Use Healthcare and/or Strategy Subject Matter Knowledge to drive Clinical functions like UM, CM, DM, etc.
  • Define the business case for new or enhanced product capabilities to ensure the proposed capabilities are aligned with the strategic business goals
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and client requests for market needs that current products and capabilities do not meet; define user personas, write product requirements and use scenario, and create/maintain prioritized product backlogs
  • Work with engineering to conduct technology assessments and ensure that technical designs are aligned with industry trends and evolving market needs
  • Monitor product releases to ensure high quality and on-time delivery, and coordinate launch activities to drive commercial success
  • Build strong working relationships across UHG to determine future product direction and assist in the successful design and launch of new capabilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on products and processes within the scope of responsibilities
  • Potentially manage one or more Product Owners, Business Analysts; sets team direction, resolves problems and provides guidance to members of own team
  • Demonstrate strong project leadership and communication skills
  • Identify and recruit best talent for the product or portfolio of products

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical, business or health care related field
  • 10+ years of health care, IT and/or business experience or related background with proven track record in product / program management with Clinical Data and/or Electronic Medical Records
  • Experience working on efficacy of data from hospital, health systems HIEs, and EMR & Lab vendors
  • Strong understanding of healthcare technology data standards like HL7, X12, etc.
  • Knowledge of one of the Healthcare areas like Utilization Management, Claims, Quality Management, etc.
  • Proven consultation and relationship management skills at the technical and business leadership level
  • Demonstrated ability to set strategic direction as well as develop tactical plans.
  • Solid knowledge of the healthcare industry, products and services
  • Demonstrated process improvement/change management skills

Preferred Qualification:
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation and decision-making skills

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. As of the date of this posting, In addition to your salary, UHG offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: Health, dental, and vision plans; wellness program; flexible spending accounts; paid parking or public transportation costs; 401(k) retirement plan; employee stock purchase plan; life insurance, short-term disability insurance, and long-term disability insurance; business travel accident insurance; Employee Assistance Program; PTO; and employee-paid critical illness and accident insurance.
