Job Information

Assembler:

Assembles metal product, partially or completely, positioning parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints, diagrams, layouts or oral instruction. 

 

Material Handler I:

Objective is to transfer material manually by hand, or utilizing a manual pallet jack or using a lifting device attached to a hoist called out within the standard work.

 

Material Handler II:

Operates industrial truck equipment with lifting devices to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products, equipment and material in warehouse, storage yard or factory. Supplies the lines with the materials needed to perform their job.

 

 

 

Role & Responsibility

Assembler:
  • Positions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or blueprint.
  • Fastens parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets or other fasteners using hand, air and/or power tools.
  • Removes small quantities of metal to produce close fit between parts.
  • Tends to machines to perform force fitting or fastening operations as specified.
  • Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Able to follow written and verbal work instructions to presort parts.
  • Building, filling and sustaining kits to support the assembly line.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
  • Keeps area clean and organized.
  • Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.

 

Material Handler I:
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device attached to hoist.
  •  Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids or lifting device by hand as needed.
  • Loads parts manually from racks, tubs, and/or bins in warehouse to trays or racks kit carts.
  • Follows set route through department to load kit carts.
  • Loads and unloads parts manually from paint line.
  • Maintains safety checks on necessary equipment.
  • Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.  
  • Uses electronic scanner to transact material as needed.
  • Keeps aisles clean and orderly.
  • Assists in the instruction and training of others as requested by supervisor.
  • Completes preventative maintenance and other duties as directed by Total Production Maintenance.
  • Perform other non-essential duties as assigned by management.

 

Material Handler II:
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform or other lifting devices under, over or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, product or materials and transports to designated area.
  • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids or lifting device by hand as needed
  • Maintains safety checks on lift truck to ensure it is in safe and proper working order.
  • Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner in compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Supplies the lines with the materials needed to perform their job manually or with the use of power equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Requirement

  • Must be able to read and receive instructions in English.
  • Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly.
  • Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements.
  • Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
  • The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.
  • Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.
  • General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments. 
  • Diploma - High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • 0>2 years Experience

 

Material Handler I:
  • Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly.
  • Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time.  
  • The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required.
  • Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.
  • General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations or assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations or assignments.

 

Material Handler II:
  • Must be able to read and receive instructions in English.  
  • Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly.
  • Successful completion of a forklift safety class, written forklift operation test and an eye exam to check for peripheral vision is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time.  
  • The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent is required. Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training.
