Sr Director-External Communications Programs (Finance) Careers That Change Lives: We have an exciting opportunity to hire a Senior Director, External Communications and Content Strategy to establish, create and meet milestones to launch a content and PR social media/digital strategy to build Medtronic's reputation. Collaborate across the department and function to maximize communications outputs, track results/outcomes and progress/results. This position is within the External Communications team that helps tell the Medtronic story to the world. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of external comms, thought leadership, reputation management, PR and social media strategies, and has strong written and verbal communication skills. A Day in the Life: In coordination with the VP of external communications, lead and shape the PR content and social media strategy to enhance Medtronic reputation to journalists, consumers and general public by creating rich content around thought leadership, opinion editorials, key partners and sponsorships, PR storytelling with patients, employees and products. Connect closely with OU Business Comms partners, Executive Comms partners, regional partners, marketing, and marketing comms to ensure that efforts and strategy align with OU priority products, launches, and greatest potential to maximize communication strategy for greatest business and PR/comms outcomes. Lead external comms efforts in conjunction with executive communications and internal communications to develop external communication strategies to position the CEO, Portfolio Leaders (Media, OP-Eds, Speaking engagements, and other opportunities to position Medtronic as a top healthcare leader. Assist in the overall planning and strategy of external comms with VP and ECLT to bring all aspects of external communications together to create an integrated approach, utilizing all assets, maximize collaboration across the function in alignment with internal comms and marketing services/operations. Serve as initial point of contact to OU business comms partners to develop, mentor and help them access ext. comms, shared services, and COE resources to meet their priorities - (25% of time). Enlist other team members to support as needed. Manage 4+ direct reports (or more); develop and mentor external communications team members and provide day-to-day leadership of team members. Partner and direct PR agencies. Must Have: Minimum RequirementsTo be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume. Bachelor's degree in journalism or communications and 15+ years of relevant experience with 10+ years of experience directly managing PR content and social media strategy OR Advanced degree in journalism or communications with a 13+ years of relevant experience and 10+ years of experience directly managing PR content and social media strategy 10+ years' experience in a position directly managing PR content and social media strategy Experience in external comms, thought leadership, and reputation management Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong team player and proven leadership skills Nice to Have : Possess solid judgment and decision-making abilities. Ability to build strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders and work effectively with senior leaders. Influence outcomes through trust and accountability. Lead and develop team members with a positive leadership style and behaviors.
