The Director Project Management is responsible for enterprise-wide management and execution of product development and implementation. This role establishes appropriate standard project practices and processes and acts as the subject matter expert through mentoring Project Managers and teams in the definition of scope, timing, cost, and approvals aligned to a standardized process. This position is accountable to the Executive Team for key project milestones, activities, resources and schedules for the project aligned to meet project management standards. The Director Project Management is also responsible for monitoring project management activities to ensure milestone reviews and sign-offs are occurring at appropriate time and levels as required. This role also manages regular communication of project status to sponsors and stakeholders and provides cross-functional feedback on project and team performance and helps teams overcome obstacles and issues encountered during projects.

This position reports to VP Engineering.

Responsibilities:
Lead Generac Development Process (GDP) governance and administration functions
Analyze new and existing NPI projects to ensure scope, budget and timing expectations are clearly identified and cross functionally managed accordingly. Maintain speed of innovation in competitive industry while achieving project milestones related to budget, timelines and scope
Maintain record systems and other criteria relating to project execution and standardization procedures
Demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in applying problem solving principles and practices.
Plan, administer and implement assigned process and project management standardization projects, which may cross several functional areas, such as marketing, product management, operations, outside services, vendors and etc.
Lead cross-functional teams with other areas of the company and with the members of acquired companies for project management process standardization
Act as a company subject matter expert in Project Management, mentor project managers and team members and provide performance feedback to direct management
Assist in identifying and resolving roadblocks to ensure projects stay on track
Proactively communicate project status, issues and risks to sponsoring management and key stakeholders
Maintain timelines and target dates in project planning software to ensure successful completion of assigned project phases within the budgeted time and cost constraints; makes certain that deadlines are met and milestones are properly set and communicated
Create and maintain project portfolio dashboard with key project metrics
Provide project management leadership to complex NPI projects to drive business strategy
Lead cross-functional project team
Develop project schedule and execute in accordance with the Generac Development Process
Drive continuous process improvement of the Generac NPI phase gate process
Identify, evaluate and document lessons learned" during projects. Communicate best practices and lessons learned to project team members as appropriate. Evaluate and update systems and processes for continuous improvement
Collaborate across functions and lead indirect teams to move projects through the stage gate development process
Designs and directs the work of the functional area
Selects, coaches and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team
Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development to create a high performing project management tea
Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered and performance is systematically improved

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or other technical discipline OR 8 years related experience in a similar working environment;
15 years of progressive work experience in engineering, marketing, and brand or product management within a complex business environment;
10 years of direct NPI project management experience - preferably in a global manufacturing environment with large cross functional projects.
