Description

This position is located at the EERC, an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for experienced, confident, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Fix and install cabinets, doors, drawers, countertops, desks, and other furniture.
  • Repair or replace flooring, including vinyl and ceramic tile, vinyl sheet flooring, and carpet.
  • Repair or replace doors, including prepping, hinges, and locks; and windows.
  • Repair or replace acoustic drop ceilings, patch and paint damaged walls.
  • General maintenance/repair of building exteriors.
  • Operation of forklifts, skid steer, articulating lift, scissor lift, similar equipment during the performance of duties.
  • Install keyboard trays and hang pictures, plaques, banners, and bulletin boards.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and rearrange modular office partition components, including desktops, file cabinets, bookshelves, and electrical components.
  • Perform snow removal in winter, including shoveling, operation of snow thrower, skid steer, and similar equipment.
  • Perform landscaping maintenance, trimming of bushes and trees, and general outdoor upkeep.
  • Assist with/perform basic maintenance/repair to HVAC and electrical components/systems, including:
    • Lubrication, filter changing, water treatment maintenance, cleaning, and minor maintenance/repair to HVAC equipment.
    • Maintain and clean heat exchanger coils.
    • May assist with electrical conduit and fixture installations.
    • Replace light bulbs and other minor electrical maintenance/repair activities.
    • Maintenance/repair of faucets, toilets, and other plumbing systems.
    • Maintenance/repair of air compressors and compressed air systems.
    • Perform safety inspections, such as emergency and exit lights, emergency generators, fire extinguishers, emergency eyewash and emergency showers, and similar equipment. Other similar duties as assigned.
  • All projects are performed in a time-intensive manner. Because of the level of interaction with researchers, clients, and sponsors, as well as the emphasis placed on safety, quality, and timeliness, this position requires great attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, initiative, and demonstrated safe work practices, conducting work in accordance with policies and procedures.

Required Competencies

  • Must have the ability to operate power and hand tools in a safe manner; ability to lift, bend, reach, and work above and below shoulder level, climb stairs/ladders, and work upon elevated open-grate flooring on a routine basis; ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb; and ability to manipulate, with assistance, materials weighing over 100 lb.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in grounds maintenance.
  • Experience in general facilities maintenance.
  • Experience with the use of hand and portable power tools.
  • Applicant will be tested and must be qualified to wear a respirator and satisfactorily complete a physical exam.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years or more of experience with troubleshooting and repair of facilities and equipment.
  • Electrical and plumbing experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience with (CMMS) computerized maintenance management systems.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$18 to $22/hour, depending upon experience and skill set, /Full-Time, Benefited, Non-Exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date

Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., field work may be required; periodic night and weekend callbacks are anticipated.
