Job Description

Position Type : Temporary, Part-time Position, 18 hours/week

Location: Fargo - NDSU Extension Human Development and Family Science Department office (remote work is a possibility)

Position Purpose :
NDSU Extension is offering an exciting opportunity as an Extension Program Coordinator. We are looking for a self-motivated professional to join us in growing and building our statewide evidence-based health promotion programs for older adults. This position is located in Fargo, ND but has the potential to be a remote work option. This is a 12-month, part-time, temporary position. This position is supervised by the NDSU Extension Gerontology Specialist.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience working collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders and developing productive relationships
  • Ability to extrapolate information, along with problem solving in order to effectively guide the growth of the programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing programs effectively that involve older adults
  • Demonstrated understanding of health promotion programming, i.e., developing, managing, and evaluating evidence-based programs
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications
  • Demonstrated use of technology in managing, delivering and/or evaluating programs
  • Bachelor's Degree in Gerontology, Health, Nutrition or Exercise Science, Human Development and Family Science or a closely related field completed by the date of application. Master's Degree preferred

  • Responsibilities:
    This position works under the direction of the NDSU Extension Gerontology Specialist to assess needs, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate health promotion programs that meet the needs of older adults in the state. Specific aspects of duties include:
  • Work with the Gerontology Specialist to develop and conduct evaluation procedures for each specific health promotion program and document and report evaluation results
  • Assist in the preparation and submittal of required program and fiscal reports
  • Assist with communicating program impact
  • Assist in the preparation and dissemination of program marketing and implementation materials
  • Assist with the recruitment and training of new class leaders for each specific health promotion program and for periodic updates for all class leaders
  • Complete and maintain program records
  • Work with Department Administrative Assistant to reimburse class leaders and their sponsoring organizations for program-related expenses
  • Assist in the fiscal management of program budgets
