Description

The Center for Rural Health connects resources and knowledge to strengthen the health of people in rural communities. For 40 years, we have worked with the public and private sectors This position will work with the Rural Health Information Hub (https://www.ruralhealthinfo.org), a federally-funded national information center on rural health issues. The position will be responsible for executing visual and audio stories from initial development through final delivery and publication. Videos and podcast products will highlight rural health programs and issues, share insights from rural health experts, and explain the products and services of RHIhub.

The Center for Rural Health connects resources and knowledge to strengthen the health of people in rural communities. For 40 years, we have worked with the public and private sectors expanding a circle of partners to develop creative solutions to critical health issues. The Center is located at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. Our approach is multi-disciplinary, as we create solutions to complex challenges. The Center for Rural Health works with communities, healthcare organizations, healthcare providers, policy-makers, researchers, and rural health stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, script, and produce video content for the Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub) website.
  • Plan, script, and produce podcasts.
  • Other multi-media content development, as assigned.
  • Participate in professional activities.

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of rural health issues
  • Proven ability to tell stories with a clear narrative arc.
  • Proven editorial skills producing engaging and authentic multi-media content
  • Ability to produce end-to-end videos and podcasts
  • Ability to work in a team to develop video and audio content
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, be resourceful, and effectively implement feedback
  • Ability to drive multiple projects in various mediums across the finish line in parallel, all while on tight deadline(s).
  • Experience compiling several pieces of content to create one finished production
  • Demonstrates a genuine openness to feedback and constant, fluid change while offering constructive input to the process and advocating for best practices.
  • Superior organizational skills, especially with large volumes of digital visual content such as video, photographs, and graphic assets.
  • Self-starter, especially in times of ambiguity.
  • High level of skill in video editing, coloring, and mastering.
  • Expert level proficiency in audio software.
  • Ability to travel, as well as work flexible hours when needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Visual Journalism, Film Production, Communications, will consider other degrees with direct audio/video production experience or education.
  • 2 years of experience working in storytelling, digital journalism, digital content production, and/or non-fiction cinema production.
  • A strong portfolio of professional content, with individual contributions clearly attributed per project.
  • Experience with video editing and production software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Keynote, etc.)
  • Experience with both Mac and PC platforms
  • Cover letter and resume, submitted at time of application.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Additional Requirements:

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing top tier editorial videography, photography, and editing deliverables to a variety of clients.
  • Experience with audio software (e.g. Audacity, Adobe Audition, Apple Logic Pro, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating with visual content development teams and multiple stakeholders all working toward a common goal.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$39,000/year minimum ranging to $65,000/year (based on qualifications and experience), Full-time Benefited, Exempt. This position is grant funded.

Work Schedule/Start Date

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Requires occasional work outside of standard hours.
