PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:

The Program Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects in a business Segment. As a leader in the Current Product Engineering team, the Program Manager may have Project Managers, Estimators, CAD Designers and Design Engineers as direct reports. The successful candidate will posses strong Program Management knowledge, technical aptitude, business acumen and excellent leadership qualities to perform day-to-day activities as well as long term strategic planning, including talent development and retention. Communication abilities with internal organizations such as Sales, Procurement, Operations, Finance as well as with Suppliers and Customers is critical for success in this role.

MAJOR AREAS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for the daily management of projects through their life cycle from quoting, design and production.
  • Define the project controls, that is the processes, procedures, reporting, etc., to manage the projects.
  • Review and monitor progress of individual projects to make sure that milestones are being met across the various projects.
  • Manage the budget for the Segment projects.
  • Accountable for delivering on customer orders.
  • Maintain positive relationship with existing customers, including developing new customers along with Sales representatives.
  • Manage the risks and issues that arise over the course of various projects, as well as take measures to correct them when they occur.
  • Coordinate the projects and their interdependencies between the various projects within the Segment portfolio.
  • Manage and allocate resources across the various projects.
  • Identifies workload and anticipates workload problems; maintains a continual awareness of potential bottlenecks that could negatively impact the achievement of on-schedule completion of in-process operations; recommends and/or implements short term containment actions in order to ensure timeliness and work load leveling.
  • Manage stakeholders who are involved in the projects.
  • Ensure deliverables are aligned across the projects.
  • Develop metrics and Key Performance Indicators across the project portfolio, including achievement of estimated versus actual metrics, as well as capture lessons learned.
  • Involved in welding, finishing, and assembly activity for the design build group. Addresses potential issues to avoid problems and minimize rework and provides related information necessary for effective management.
  • Coordinates/communicates and plans activities with other personnel, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Ensures that a favorable Company image is presented to customers, and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
  • Complies with Company and Department policies and procedures as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or Business or related field with 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Proven experience in program management.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills.
  • Solid teamwork and organizational skills including attention to detail, problem solving and multi-tasking.
  • Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of project management.
  • Experience with welding, fabrication, forming, bending, laser a plus.
  • Knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling tools (preferably Solid Works).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (preferably Made to Manage).
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • PMP certification is a plus.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Displays a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
  • Must be US person or PRC holder due to access to products and technology controlled under the ITAR

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Anderson Dahlen fosters a manufacturing type environment. This position will involve operating a computer at a desk in an office environment and visiting the shop floor on a daily basis. Moderately heavy work requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or less.
