The Systems Engineering team designs highly-engineered electrical / electronic motion control systems using Company industry leading variable frequency drives. These complex systems range from 5-10,000 horsepower and 200-13,800 volts and are used in automotive testing, metal processing, paper converting, and oil & gas extraction applications.

Position Overview:

The Electrical Designer's primary responsibility is to design high quality industrial control system panels used in automation/motion control applications in collaboration with other designers and engineers. The Electrical Designer will also advise our in-house panel shop during manufacturing and be an integral part of our Systems Engineering department where they will participate in initiatives related to process improvement and cost-out. We are looking for motivated candidates with strong skills in electrical control panel design, a good understanding of common automation system components, and good communication skills. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives, and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes.

Lead Responsibilities for Electrical Designer :

- Create electrical and mechanical drawing packages for industrial motor control and battery testing/simulation systems that are optimized for size and ease of manufacturing

- Create single-line electrical schematics from similar systems or from a clean slate

- Verify conformance of components to customer specifications

- Complete load, voltage, amperage and heat calculations to ensure proper design

- Create system bill of materials and work with Purchasing and Vendors to procure materials

- Understand proper wiring methods and codes

- Work with in-house panel shop to ensure proper panel build and provide guidance as necessary

- Participate in and lead system design reviews

Minimum Qualifications for Electrical Designer :

- Associate Degree in a related technical field (Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, etc.) with 2+ years of experience in industrial machinery control design

- Experience using 3D and 2D CAD tools (Solidworks, AutoCAD, etc.)

- Ability to read electrical schematics and component specification sheets

- Experience with electrical system packaging containing transformers, contactors, circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, etc.

- Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork

- Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects at the same time

- Self-starter with the ability to operate effectively with minimal supervision

- Effective oral and written communication skills

Additional Desired Qualifications for Electrical Designer :

- Bachelor of Science in related engineering disciplines.

- Familiarity with PLCs, embedded controllers and data acquisition systems.

- Knowledge of UL and CE standards as they relate to industrial control panels.

- Experience with Solidworks 3D Mechanical and Electrical
