Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business, operations and technology departments to define, develop and document business requirements to ensure clients' needs are captured and delivered (e.g. use case-based Business Requirements Documents with evidence demonstrating competence writing unique, code-able, testable business requirements; user stories Requirements Traceability Matrix
  • Develop and maintain business context diagrams (e.g. business data flows, process flows) to analyze/confirm the definition of project requirements
  • Define the approach and effort required for defining business requirements (e.g. business, functional & non-functional)
  • Conduct research studies that may include collecting, analyzing, trending and presenting data and recommendations to management
  • Identify opportunities to engage external resources to provide solutions and contribute to the development of supporting documentation to facilitate appropriate vendor identification and selection (e.g. RFPs, RFIs, Statements of Work & contractual obligations)
  • Provide ongoing support to ensure proper implementation and adoption of our MMIS solution
  • Ability to work outside of "normal business hours" occasionally to assist with deployment & releases.
  • Perform minor project management duties including meeting minutes, technical documentation, project schedule adherence, and presentations to client leadership
  • Clearly communicate requirements, status updates and outcomes to all stakeholders and varying levels of the organization
  • Act as the liaison between Business and Systems Analysts, and Project Management groups
  • Work closely with business teams to strategize solutions that support long term business objectives
Limited travel is required for this role (less than 25% on average over a year's time but may involve travel for multiple concurrent weeks to satisfy specific client project requirements). Consultants who are not local to an Optum office facility work from a home office when not at the client site.

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in any of the following areas: Business Analysis, Systems Analysis, Business Process Improvement, or Data Analysis
  • 3+ years of building/creating project deliverables with the ability to manage complex work-streams
  • 3+ years of experience with MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint
  • 3+ years of experience gathering requirements from the client / business and providing clear documentation
  • 3+ years of experience in writing user stories and detailed process flows
  • 3+ years of experience with project methodology (requirements, design, development, test and implementation)
  • Ability to travel 25% on average over a year's time

When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in MMIS or equivalent state systems
  • Experience with Business Process Modeling Tool
  • Experience in all phases of Agile, Scrum, and other Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Experience in a Management Consulting/Professional Consulting organization
  • Experience translating business requirements into a detailed system specification
  • Experience facilitating Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions
  • Experience working with test plans and test cases
  • Document new APIs / Services and modify existing ones after evaluating the following: user stories, business requirements, high level design documents and database models
  • Experience with the following tools/applications: SAS, Tableau, JIRA, CA Agile, Aha!

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $64,800 to $116,000.
