About You

The dual customer/product focused position of Design Project Engineer serves as the technical liaison between OEMs and represents our customers during new product development programs. We will count on you to plan, execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines within budget. Your communication and decision-making skills help you manage resources and coordinate team member efforts to define and deliver project objectives. And your ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and adapt to change helps you achieve consistent results and make a positive impact for the company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strong working relationships with customer technical counterparts; Serve as primary liaison to deliver product technical information, manage product specifications, communicate product change information, conduct installation issue resolutions and facilitate customer requests
  • Lead design-related component styling, purchasing and manufacturing issues with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery and cost
  • Effectively lead cross functional teams and clearly direct objectives
  • Establish a reasonable project development schedule from concept to production implementation in line with overall business requirements
  • Determine ideal component manufacturing direction to achieve overall design, performance and cost goals
  • Analyze new and existing designs to identify and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Work with digital tools (CAD, File Management and ERP System) to ensure product development success
  • Maintain accountability to PDP (Product Development Process) and ownership of its tasks
  • Prepare preliminary sketches, schematic diagrams and/or presentations to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems
  • Manage a small team of design resources to complete size- and complexity-based projects
  • Actively solicit design feedback from customers, other designers and manufacturing
  • Analyze field and production problems and recommend possible solutions
  • Perform other miscellaneous project related assignments

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. (equivalent work experience may be considered)
  • 8-10 years related design experience required, plastics and/or sheet metal preferred
  • Experience designing and bringing product into production
